Inspiring project: the RTU Children and Youth Curiosity Centre Futurimo Riga
RTU Children's and Youth Curiosity Center "Futurimo Rīga", the new curiosity center of Riga Technical University (RTU), was opened in 2023 as a unique space where visitors of all ages can explore the laws of natural sciences in an engaging way and discover how engineering and technology enhance human life today and in the future. The center, significantly supported by donations attracted by the RTU Development Fund, offers a wide range of interactive experiences that inspire and help shape the engineers and scientists of tomorrow.
"Futurimo Rīga" aims to foster the next generation of engineers by sparking children's and young people's interest in engineering and technology. The center features three exhibition halls filled with interactive exhibits where children can explore the principles of physics and future technologies through hands-on experiences. Visitors can learn how the world works, understand the laws of natural sciences, and see how engineering and technology are already transforming lives today and will continue to do so in the future.
A key focus of "Futurimo Rīga" is to educate and encourage children and young people to explore engineering. Interest-based workshops such as "Exciting Chemistry," "Drone Piloting," and "Wood Design" allow them to develop practical skills and discover their passions in these fields. Additionally, the center offers technical creativity workshops, STEM camps, and chemistry shows, making science an exciting adventure. Activities cater to all age groups, fostering an early interest in science and helping guide future career choices in STEM disciplines.
The creation of "Futurimo Rīga" was a strategic initiative within RTU’s long-term vision to promote STEM education and make it accessible to children and teenagers from an early age. This effort aims to support the development of Latvia’s future specialists and innovators. The establishment of the center was significantly facilitated by donations attracted by the RTU Development Fund.
"Futurimo Rīga" is a step towards a future where every child can unlock their potential and understand how science and technology shape the world. The creation of this center underscores the importance of investing in education that inspires the next generation of innovators and leaders. Every donation helps build an environment that not only educates but also nurtures future scientists and engineers who will use their skills and knowledge to improve our quality of life. Investing in education is an investment in a better future for all!
