RTU Development Fund - support for science and innovation

Higher education and science can only develop fully in close partnership with industry, and the RTU Development Foundation has a proven track record of bringing the university closer to the business community and persuading it to invest resources in new knowledge that benefits our society as a whole. This is not a story of giver and taker, but of working together, selecting the target of the investment and organising the support process responsibly, in line with the strategic directions of the university and the interests of the business community. You can benefit by both giving and receiving. Investing in education and science is indispensable.

Tālis Juhna, Rector of RTU

The Riga Technical University Development Fund was established in 2002. The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Latvia has granted the RTU Development Fund the status of a public benefit organisation in several directions (promotion of education, science, culture and sport). This enables donors to receive a corporate income tax rebate in accordance with the provisions of Article 12 of the Law on Corporate Income Tax.

Objective:

The Fund aims to be at the heart of a synergy between higher education institutions, industry, students and those involved in science, in order to serve as a support for each of these parties.

Activities: The RTU Development Fund works closely with Riga Technical University (RTU) on a day-to-day basis, promoting cooperation with industry. The Fund works mainly in two areas on a daily basis:

  1. jointly with industry companies, it organises various scholarship competitions for students from RTU and other higher education institutions in Latvia (scholarships, both for internships in the company and for achievements in studies, science and research);
  2. attract support (both financial and material donations) for various RTU development projects.
